All you need to know about Starknet in November

Starknet monthly recap #5: November

Welcome to the 5th edition of my monthly recap, where I bring you the most important updates and developments from the Starknet ecosystem!

📣 Important news of the month

🔹 New Ecosystem Support Initiative

After the exciting announcement about the ECMP program last month, which aims to reward contributors who have significantly impacted Starknet with retroactive rewards, the Foundation has announced its new initiative: the DeFi Committee.

The committee's mission is to brainstorm, build, and implement a strategy to increase the attractiveness and on-chain metrics of Starknet. To achieve this, the committee has a pool of 50M STRK tokens and will establish an on-chain liquidity incentive program.

However, the roadmap has not yet been communicated.

🔹 Milestone Achievement: Stage 0 ZK Rollup

The Rollup stage 0, a security analysis metric for L2 developed by L2Beat, has been achieved thanks to the latest work by Nethermind on their Juno node!

This is a significant step towards ensuring the security and robustness of Starknet. Here is what Starknet needs to move to stage 1:

🔹 Goerli Depreciation and Migration to Sepolia

Following the deprecation of the Goerli testnet, Starknet is currently migrating to the Sepolia one. The migration process began on November 15th, and builders are strongly urged to migrate their projects to Sepolia before the end of the year.

🔹 Collaboration Between Radius and Madara

The collaboration between Madara and Radius continues to break new ground in the L3/Appchains realm. One of the recent groundbreaking achievements is the development of an encrypted mempool that enables the construction of Starknet appchains that are resistant to censorship and provide protection against MEV.

A significant and exciting development, as censorship and MEV are the biggest issues faced by L2 and L3 due to sequencer operations.

🔹 A New Way to Measure TPS on Starknet: UOPS

Starknet introduces a new metric called UOPS (User Operations Per Second) to analyze transaction capacity. Unlike the traditional TPS (Transactions Per Second), UOPS counts each operation within a multicall transaction. For instance, a transaction involving approval, swapping, and transferring would be counted as three UOPS.

This new metric provides a more accurate comparison of Starknet's capabilities with other scaling solutions.

🔹 Blockchain India Week

StarkWare, along with the Starknet ecosystem, will be participating in Blockchain India Week at the beginning of December in Bangalore, India. There will be a Starknet Hacker House from December 3rd to 8th, as well as a Starknet conference on the 5th.

🔹 Kakarot New Fundraising Round

Kakarot zkEVM has recently announced the successful completion of its seed round, with support from top-tier backers. The main goal of this fundraising round is to expand Kakarot's team and accelerate progress on all fronts.

If you want to learn more about this project, which is backed by Vitalik himself, here is a thread and a comprehensive article that provide detailed information about Kakarot and its plans.

🔹 AVNU Audit and Recap of Its Journey Since Its Launch

AVNU has recently undergone a successful audit conducted by Nethermind for its new contracts. This positions AVNU as the first and only DEX on Starknet to have its contracts audited in Cairo 1.0.

This achievement solidifies AVNU's position as the leading DEX for swapping on Starknet. If you're interested in learning more about AVNU's features and accomplishments since its launch on Mainnet, here is an official recap.

🔹 Argent Introduces ETH Staking

Argent, the leading wallet of Starknet, has recently launched its ETH staking service directly from the wallet. Currently, this service is only available to Argent Mobile users. However, we can expected that this service will also become available for the Web Wallet and Argent X Wallet in the near future.

🔹 Ekubo's Major Announcements

Ekubo has officially launched its swap service, which enables direct trading on its platform.

In addition, Ekubo has recently introduced its leaderboard feature, allowing liquidity providers to compare their activity with others and potentially earn future rewards on the protocol. To participate, head over here.

🔹 Three New Projects in Mainnet

This month, no less than 3 new projects have been launched on Mainnet:

  • StarkSwap, a Uni-v2 style AMM

  • StarkDeFi, a Uni-v2 style AMM coupled with stablepools (optimized for pairs with very low volatility such as stablecoins)

  • Starkbot, a Telegram bot that allows users to easily interact with Starknet's DeFi dApps directly from Telegram

Speaking of Mainnet, here is a list (dated November 8th) of all projects live on the Starknet Mainnet:
